The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2) - Katharine McGee

December 31, 2017

What is it about:
New York City, 2118. Manhattan is home to a thousand-story supertower, a breathtaking marvel that touches the sky. But amid high-tech luxury and futuristic glamour, five teenagers are keeping dangerous secrets…

Leda is haunted by memories of what happened on the worst night of her life. She’ll do anything to make sure the truth stays hidden—even if it means trusting her enemy.

Watt just wants to put everything behind him…until Leda forces him to start hacking again. Will he do what it takes to be free of her for good?
When Rylin wins a scholarship to an upper-floor school, her life transforms overnight. But being there also means seeing the boy whose heart she broke, and who broke hers in return.

Avery is tormented by her love for the one person in the world she can never have. She’s desperate to be with him…no matter the cost.

And then there’s Calliope, the mysterious, bohemian beauty who arrives in New York determined to cause a stir. And she knows exactly where to begin.

But unbeknownst to them all, someone is watching their every move, someone with revenge in mind. After all, in a world of such dazzling heights, just one wrong step can mean a devastating fall.

“All of them preoccupied with their own small worries, clutching at their impossible dreams.”

My opinion:
SOOOO FUCKING GOOD OH MY GOODNESS!! WOW! I just finished the book and for sure am speechless...

I started it yesterday around 10 pm and didn‘t stop reading till 3 am... it‘s been a while since I read a book and wasn‘t even aware of the time. It literally felt like just 1 hour had passed and I was shocked to find out how much I had read. It was just too good to put away. This book had me on edge the wholeee time. To be honest it‘s sooo much better than the first one and I loved that one alot as well.
It‘s just something about the glamour but also the ugly part of the book that has a hold of me. And of course the way the author knows exactly how to write to get your feels and imagination running. I can picture everything. The towers and upper class. But also the life of those who don‘t have the assurance of money.

Oh and each character. Oh man. I loved Rylin of course, since book 1. I just really wish her and Cord would finally come together.
Watt is absolutely the best. I just love his humor and the whole Nadia thing. And sorry not sorry, I ship Leda and him like alot.
Oh and Leda. She was a bitch at first but I learned to love her. I just saw the good in her and broken. And even though I don‘t accept what she did, I try to understand. I want her to be happy.
And then there‘s Avery who I love to hate. She‘s really the character I least like. And that whole Atlas thing... freaked me out and I had a bitter expression the whole time on.
The „new“ character Calliope was definitely a really interesting one and her point of view was pretty amazing. I hope she can get through it all. She deserves to find her place, home and someone to love for once.

I really really find it amazing how each character got a kind of huge development throughout the book.

I‘m so excited for the next book. I really can‘t wait to find out how it will continue! Because of course the dazzling heights endet with a LOUD BANG.
