Play on - Samantha Young

September 15, 2017

My opinion:

This book was a hell of a ride. The lovely Samantha Young is known for her excellent writing style, story-telling and perfect characters and story. I loved every book this woman ever wrote.

one hell of a accurate GIF, lol
But this book was on a whole nother level. It touched me everywhere. And I just know I have to read it sometime later this year again, because (I'm sorry in advance) but I'm known to read over stuff, when I get bored, when I'm tired or if I'm going though some personal shit in my life (latter, is the case right now in my life). So I admit, that I may have not read everything and just flew over some stuff.

And still, this book has been one of the top 3 books - I've read this year. Seriously, this book is utter perfection. It will give you all the feels. The story had some resemblance with Dublin Street, but just a tiny bit. But who am I to complain?! I loved it. And this book helped me with my personal matter too - It made me to believe in me again. It showed me to be not always hard to myself. I really needed that. And I bought this book as a paperback. This is my 5th paperback this year. I really did not think that any other book was worth being on my shelf. So - if that's not reason enough to give this book at least a chance... Then I don't know either.

So yes,  about the book: - at first I was confused about the time gaps (You will know what I mean with that, if you start to read). But that was just a tiny tiny problem by my side. After the 10th chapter I was having no problems with the flow and just forgot everything around me. I know you probably ask yourself: "wtf after the 10th chapter?!" But you know, as I wrote it up here - I flew over at the beginning, because I was really confused that *spoiler* there was a Jim, even though this story is about a certain Aidan. But my confusion got solved very fast.
Conclusion: You won't be having any problems with getting into the story.

I really can't tell you how much I loved this book. I'm laying here in my bed... not knowing what to do - I just know that I have to rattle myself up and get my life back into my hands. After reading this book, I know that I am on the driver seat - I can decide where to go and where not. I will just, as Nora, take the longer road, but I will get to my destination. And I also know, that bad things have to happen - so new, better things can be made.

You will follow out of Nora's point of view the whole book. And it's so damn interesting how her character develops in those few years. While reading you really can shift into Nora's role - but not really because everything that woman/girl has been through is unthinkable for the most of us.. so it is really more like a praised HBO tv-show or Blockbuster. And it was so easy for me to fall in love with Nora and Aidan - I mean how could I not. It has been a long time since I met such lovable characters. I would not change one damn thing about them. I want them to be my neighbour. I want to hang out with them o a Sunday evening. I want to know them and I especially want to hear about THIS; their love story in real. And then - I want to thank them ...

Why you should read it:

I loved how everything turned out. All the happenings, feelings, uncertainty, twists et cetera.

If you're looking for:
- amazing characters
- perfectly written plot
- mature characters and story
- once in a live time love story
- something different and unique
- a book, which will force you to feel everything
- an amazing story, which probably will be in your heart forever
- to read about two fictional characters with a rare connection; which do not even exist in fictional worlds
Then you're right here!!

You should read it, because I guarantee you that those two protagonists will stay a little while longer with you and keep you company. It's not just a smug read. It will show you two universes of two complete different people and how those two universes collide and merge together.

This book - you will finish it with a few tears, with a heavy heart and a smiling face. Give it a a shot. I promise you - you won't regret it.

The blurb:

Nora O’Brien chased a dream from Indiana to Scotland, so sure it was the right thing to do. Three years later she was left in her adopted country with nothing to her name but guilt and regret.

Until Aidan Lennox entered her life.

Older, worldlier, a music producer and composer, the sexy Scot should never have made sense for Nora. But somehow, in each other, they found the light they were looking for, the laughter and the passion—the strength to play on despite their past losses.

But when life dealt Aidan another unlucky hand, instead of reaching for her he disappeared. The agonizing loss of him inspired something within Nora. It fired her spirit— the anger and hurt pushing her forward to take control and reach for her dreams.

Finally pursuing a career on stage while she put herself through college, everything is how Nora wants it. She’s avoiding heartbreak and concentrating on her goals.

Sounds easy but it’s not. Because Aidan is back. And for some reason he hates Nora.

He’s determined to be at war with her. And she has absolutely no idea why.
